How it works & FAQs

Let’s make the first step a simple one.

No finished plan needed. I’ll walk you through it, one step at a time.

Getting started is simple.
  1. 01

    Call me to get started

Give me a call to discuss your property’s location, how often you’d like it checked, and any concerns or special requests. I’ll explain the service and provide a price.

  2. 02

    Meet at your property

If you’re happy to proceed, we’ll book an appointment at your property to go over the details and confirm the visit schedule. We’ll review and sign the service agreement, then exchange keys, codes and entry instructions personally and securely.

  3. 03

    Stay informed

Your agreed checklist guides each visit. I’ll check your property’s condition and security, watch for anything unusual, and send timestamped photos by text or email after every visit.

Before service begins, we’ll agree on who to contact and what I’m authorized to do if something needs attention. Confirm any insurance-related checking requirements with your insurer so we can consider them when arranging visits.

After the visit

See how your home is doing.

Timestamped photos by text or email help you stay informed. Here’s an example of the details an update could include, depending on your agreed checklist.

A few good questions

Before you go.

Quick answers to help you plan.

Who is home watch for?

Vacationers, snowbirds, people working away and owners of acreages or vacant homes, including properties for sale. Visits can cover days, weeks or months away.

Who will I be dealing with?

Me. I’m David, the owner. I’m your direct contact and the person who checks your property.

Which areas do you serve?

Sylvan Lake, Red Deer, Eckville, Bentley and Penhold, plus rural properties and acreages in Red Deer County and Lacombe County.

How is pricing worked out?

During our first call, we discuss your property’s location, how often you need checks, and any concerns or special requests. I’ll explain the service and provide a price before we arrange a property appointment.

What does a visit include?

Your agreed checklist guides each visit: condition and security checks, attention to anything unusual, and timestamped photos sent afterward.

Can I request additional help?

Yes. Let me know what you have in mind, and I’ll confirm whether it’s something I can accommodate alongside your home checks.

How often would you visit?

Visit frequency is flexible, tailored to your needs and schedule. Confirm your insurer’s requirements before we agree on a visit schedule.

Can home watch help with my insurance requirements?

Many home insurance policies require a trusted person to physically check your home while you’re away, especially during the heating season, to keep your coverage valid. It’s best to check your policy first, then we’ll come up with a tailored plan that meets what your insurer asks for.

How will I hear about my home or an issue?

I send timestamped photos by text or email after every visit. Before service begins, we agree on who to contact and what I’m authorized to do if something needs attention.

How are keys and entry details handled?

Keys, codes and entry instructions are exchanged personally and securely at our in-person meeting, when you review and sign the service agreement. Don’t send them through the website enquiry form.
